About

Roanoke Mountain Adventures is a full service outfitter based in beautiful Roanoke, Virginia. We offer guided trips for mountain biking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), kayaking, equipment rentals and an extensive area shuttle service for a variety of do it yourself outdoor adventures. We work to promote our region’s great outdoor recreation opportunities for visitors and residents.

In addition, we operate the Outdoor Gear Consignment Shop at our location where we sell a variety of used outdoor gear. We believe that keeping gear in circulation is a great way to offer affordable outdoor gear and promote recycling and the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!). Bring your used outdoor gear and clothing by our shop to make some extra cash and clean out some space in your garage or house. You are also supporting local business and giving people the option of buying gear at 1/2 the price of retail.

We feel the moniker of “Best Outdoor Town on the East Coast” is appropriate, as Roanoke is surrounded by the Blue Ridge and Alleghany Mountains, providing opportunities for world-class recreation in close proximity to the city. We have grown up in the outdoors and strive to share the rewarding experience of outdoor adventure with our clients. We love the outdoor activities our area offers and hope to provide our clients with the ability and knowledge to continue their outdoor pursuits wherever life takes them.

STAFF

James Revercomb

James was born and raised in the Roanoke area, growing up enjoying all the area has to offer. Introduced to the areas rivers and trails at an early age, James spent many summer days of his childhood on the Cowpasture, Jackson, and James Rivers, spurring a passion for the woods and water ever since. While in college he traveled to Wyoming during his college summers to begin his guiding career as a whitewater guide. After graduation, he made the full time move to Wyoming to continue his outdoor career. From guiding snowmobile trips in Yellowstone National Park and the Wyoming backcountry, wildlife trips in Grand Teton National Park, to working as a fly fishing guide on the Snake and Green Rivers, James has a diverse outdoor background and has guided thousands of clients in many different settings. After being away from Roanoke for 8 years, James and his wife Ainsley decided to make the move back to Virginia in 2014. After brainstorming guiding opportunities in the area for some year’s prior, James and Jim put their vision to work and began laying the groundwork for RMA.

Dan Lucas

Dan’s love of the outdoors has been evident all of his life. He attended as a camper and then worked at Camp Bethel for 15 years. He also obtained the honor of Eagle Scout. For seven and a half years he had the pleasure of being Base Camp Director at a local outdoor adventure and retreat center. In addition to helping manage business operations he facilitated such adventures as high ropes/low ropes, caving, climbing, kayaking, backpacking, and of course mountain bike instruction. Dan also spent time as a brand ambassador for Airborne Bicycles and represented the company for two years at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, CA. He joined the Roanoke Mountain Adventures team in February 2015 and is excited to bring high quality adventure opportunities to the Roanoke Valley. When not guiding others he enjoys his own two wheeled adventures. Some of his favorite mountain bike excursions have taken him to Utah, Colorado, Arizona, California, and best of all right here in Southwest Virginia. His most favorite adventure  is the one that led him to Fincastle where he lives in a historic home with his wife, daughter, and three dogs.
